Imagine Dragons - "Gold" [Music Video Premiere!]
Who wants new Imagine Dragons!? Relax, though. It’s not a new song from their upcoming album “Smoke + Mirrors” (Feb. 17) what the rock band unveiled today (Jan. 21) but the official music video for the second single “Gold” (yes, Dan Reynolds and Co. are finally moving on from "I Bet My Life”. We all loved the song but it was already starting to become a little too annoying to hear it on the radio).
For the “Gold” video it seems either Imagine Dragons decided to keep it low-budget on purpose or Interscope deprived them of a decent budget. Considering the adequate success of "I Bet My Life”, I assume it’s the first option. I would have preferred to see an actual plot but I’m digging the energy coming from this ‘performance’ video anyway. Watch the world premiere thanks to VEVO below:
“Who can you trust? When everything you touch turns to gold” wonders ID’s frontman Dan Reynolds in the reflective folk-rock song. It’s good music, it shows a new side from the Imagine Dragons prism, but I personally don't see "Gold" matching the popularity of "Bet My Life". It may be perceived as a little ‘flat’ at some parts.
The music video shows the whole band performing the track surrounded by large sets of flashing lights. Very intense! (don't want to know that the electricity bill was the next day).
