They’ve been teasing it for the days, and here finally it is! Girl band Fifth Harmony covering Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson’s monster hit “Uptown Funk”. And they’re not just releasing the audio of their bold cover, they’ve also shot a little music video for us! Watch the YouTube premiere below:
Many #Harmonizers have been wondering for many days (for the days the Instagram teasers have lasted) what the reason for this sudden "Uptown Funk" cover was. Was it going to be merely a gift for fans to kick off 2015? Were the girls so in love with the song they just had to release a cover and finally get it out of their systems? Well it’s a NO for both options. And you wonder why Jasmine V, Jacob Whitesides and Mahogany Lox are in the cover video of “Uptown Funk” along with Fifth Harmony? It’s because these three up-and-coming singers are going to be the openers for the group’s tour. Aww, aren’t they a big family already?
Congratulations are in order for Fifth Harmony. They got a record deal with a major label, their debut album is already finished and will soon be released, and they will embark starting February on their first headlining tour across the USA. I’m so proud of them!
The cover and the video: Very bold to cover “Uptown Funk” - and trying to do Bruno Mars justice for that matter, but Fifth Harmony’s rendition is...cute. I mean, it's nowhere near the amazingness of the original but it's a cute, girl-y thing. Jasmine V was a great addition to the cover, and she looked really great in the video, so as 5H's Ally and Dinah did. Dinah in particular was on fire. She snatched Normani the title of 'the Beyoncé of the group' for a few minutes! WERK!
