Ed Sheeran - "Don't" [Music Video]
Ed Sheeran premiered the music video for "Don’t”
today, August 4, on YouTube. The Benny Blanco and Rick Rubin co-produced mid-tempo is the official second single from the English singer-songwriter’s latest album
“X” (Atlantic Records). “Don’t” is a song about a girlfriend who cheated on Ed
(supposedly, Ellie Goulding). Ed almost didn’t include “Don’t” on the final cut
of “X” as he felt it was "a bit too personal". Label and friends ultimately
convinced Ed Sheeran. Also, the song was supposed to be the first single
instead of "Sing", but label executives thought the “Don't f*ck with
my love” lyrics wasn’t too first single-ish. Second single it is then.
“Don’t” music video review
Well, this is a concept I certainly didn't think for the “Don’t” music video. A white ghetto man wakes up by a shack, and starts body poppin', body-locking his way up to his real house. He puts on some deodorant as a clean white sleeveless t-shirt, and quickly makes his way and keeps dancing his way through nicer neighbourhoods. He crashes into random people’s houses, and dances with them. While he's back in the streets doing his routines, he's checked out by Ed Sheeran from his window as he passes by in a black SUV. At the last scenes of the "Don't" video, white ghetto man keeps the body poppin’ going as he enters a fancy mansion, finds a nice suit to wear, and sits by the grand table to enjoy a makes-you-hungry-just-watching feast.
What did I just see? Cool video... but this doesn't make sense with the lyrics. I was entertained but left sad at the same time. I thought we would get an Ellie reference!
