About time new Alexandra Burke music! The winner of season 5 of 'X Factor UK' who enjoyed success with her first album "Overcome" (2009) - spawning three #1 hits - but flopped with the follow-up "Heartbreak on Hold" (2012), wants to make things right for her third album and avoid another chart disaster which could potentially hurt her music career for good. To do so, she's first serving fans with a free EP entitled "#NewRules", before releasing her new full-length studio album in a later date. "#NewRules" is an EP featuring only six tracks, it was exclusively premiered through DailyMail.co.uk on August 30, it will hit digital retailers on September 1, and according to Alexandra, fans should take it as an early taste of the route she's going for album #3. From "#NewRules", the first track is a long intro, "Fix You" is a cover of the Coldplay classic, and the rest are original recordings, most of them slow jamz except for "Bounty Hunter". Overall, the sound in "#NewRules" is very R&B and soulful. Will she fully embrace this sound for her upcoming studio album?. I like R&B Alexandra, she sounds beatiful in these songs, but I don't think an album only of this 'R&B and soulful' genre is the thing she needs to revive her music career. Add R&B but also a couple of bonafide radio hits.
