Dev - In The Dark (Music Video!)
Hands all over me! That's the plot of Dev's music video for her song "In The Dark" - The The Cataracs-produced future summer smash is the official second single from Dev's upcoming debut album "The Night the Sun Came Up" which will hit stores next September 20th via Universal Republic.
It seems to me Dev, aka the girl who sings the chorus in Far East Movement's "Like a G6", will be another Alexis Jordan. The American electro-pop singer has had so far a real hit only in the UK. Her song "Bass Down Low" peaked at #10 there while in the US this didn't even pass the Top 60 barrier. So just like Alexis Jordan, from Jay-Z's Roc Nation, Dev might have to focus her attention on the European market as her music style seems more adequate for over here.
I personally didn't like that much "Bass Down Low". It sounded like the illegitimate son of "Like a G6" and "Fergalicious". On the contrary, "In The Dark" sounds more fresh and smells like a real summer smash. It kinda gives me "Stereo Love" teas though but whatever...
As for the official "In The Dark" music video directed by Ethan Lader, it's not the typical club video, with bright lights and alcohol everywhere, thank god!, but something original and very cool. A naked Dev is the prisoner of these black-painted arms who in most of the scenes surround and hold Dev - covering only her most feminine areas - and in others, Dev finds herself in a garden filled with these black arms while later she's seen dancing 'in the dark' with some strangers, and singing in a foggy set. I like it, like it!
