Coldplay Premiere New Song "Midnight"
Early on Tuesday (Feb. 25th) Coldplay shared the following message on their Facebook; "Something new at 0:00 in Ulaanbaatar #midnight PH". Ulaanbaatar is a city in Mongolia, and at exactly midnight local time (11 a.m in New York City), the British alternative-rock band premiered a brand new song entitled "Midnight".
"Midnight" is allegedly the first offering from Coldplay's forthcoming sixth studio album. Although it's been three long years since "Mylo Xyloto", the last new Coldplay song we've heard was released summer. It was "Atlas", from the "Catching Fire" soundtrack
"Midnight" marks the beginning of a new era. The sixth album of Coldplay will arrive in stores later this year. The question is; is "Midnight" the first "official" single from the new album? or just a one-off track Coldplay have decided to release as "warm-up"?. "Midnight" is very dark/electronic. Is this the sound of the their new album?. I have nothing against dark/eletronic music but "Midnight" is a strange record. Lyrics are unintelligible, and the song really doesn't go anywhere. The audio of "Midnight" was released via an accompanying visual posted on YouTube. Was this filmed in Ulaanbaatar?
