Cody Simpson - 'Surfboard' [Music Video]
He's Aussie, and he likes to surf... he's not copying Beyoncé's 'Drunk In Love' (well, maybe a little). Cody Simpson just premiered on YouTube the music video for his latest single, the dub-steppy "Surfboard". Watch below.
I wanted to believe that Cody recorded this song to pay tribute to the sport he loves to practice, but that rap-esque bridge with lyrics like "Left me wanting more on the shore/She love beach boys like 64, 64" are too 'Drunk In Love' to me. Plus, the scenes of him with his girlfriend at the beach at night time look like Bee and Jay at the beach in 'Drunk In Love' video too. Oh my. It may not be a 'blatant' copy, but Cody isn't playing a good game here. He's trying to get success riding Bee's bandwagon and it is sad.
The only intelligent move he's done has been to premiere the "Surfboard" music video last night just minutes after getting eliminated from 'Dancing With The Stars'. Everybody's going to be talking about him today and that's going to mean free promo for the song.
