Carly Rae Jepsen Covers Years & Years’ “King”, Does “Run Away With Me” In Acoustic Mode on BBC Live Lounge
Carly Rae Jepsen was today’s (Sept. 17) Live Lounge special guest. She’s currently in the UK promoting her new single “Run Away With Me” and her management thought that there was no better place to start her promo tour than with an appearance and performance on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, hosted by Clara Amfo.
Today at midday (UK time) Carly performed a two-song acoustic set made of her new single, and best song on her sales-disappointing latest album “Emotion”, “Run Away With Me”, and her mandatory mystery cover, which was revealed to be Years and Years’ #1 UK hit “King”. Carly sang both songs really well but if I have to name my favorite it would have to be the “Run Away With Me” acoustic performance. I just love this Carly song so much and I love the way she sings it live. It gives me so much LIFE! But also, what a surprise for her to choose Years and Years “King” as her cover. I didn’t know she was a fan. She did really well with this one too. Certainly Y&Y will approve! Her vocals were perfect match for this song.
PS: I just wonder if after the weak sales of “Emotion” Interscope Records is going to drop Carly or not…
