Breaking: Ed Sheeran & Beyoncé To Release "Perfect" Remix Tonight
When Ed said in an interview a few days ago that he was going to Despacito “Perfect”, we all immediately thought he was going to invite a Latino guest to sing a few lyrics in Spanish or Spanglish, and the name of Camila Cabello was quickly put on the table, but with today’s announcement that the “Perfect” remix guest is none other than queen of the entire universe Beyoncé we now understand that what Ed truly meant was that he was going to simply invite a big name (Justin Bieber in the case of the referenced “Despacito”) on board his “Perfect” remix. Just a couple of hours ago Ed announced Beyoncé was going to be the collaborator on the official remix and that the new version would be released tonight at 7pm EST.
Why exactly would he feel the need to release a duet version of “Perfect”, though? Was he really afraid the song wouldn’t be able to go all the way to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 on its own? We mean, “Perfect” is currently on a steady rise. In the last Hot 100 update the “Divide” single went from #7 to #5, and its radio performance is going up too, so it was pretty much assumed that sooner or later the #1 peak was going to happen. Do you think Ed and his label didn’t have it that clear? True “Havana” and “Rockstar” are strong competitors but “Perfect” is the newer single of the bunch… but anyways, the remix will be here tonight, aka in just a few hours. It will be interesting to see if Beyoncé adds new lyrics to the song and how the song will work with a female narrator. We know we will love it, though, no matter the final result. It’s Beyoncé, duh!
PS: This won't be the first time Ed and Beyoncé's vocals mix together. They performed a couple of years together in a Stevie Wonder tribute and then at the Global Citizen Festival.
Do you think “Perfect” really needed a remix or was it flawless as it was?
