Brandy Releases Cover of Coldplay's "Magic": From Pop to R&B!
We’ve heard Brandy do covers of R&B girls
like Rihanna (“Diamonds”) or Beyoncé (“1+1") or R&B legends such as
Whitney Houston (“I Will Always Love You”), so imagine my surprise when I saw a
tweet from Brandy on my timeline earlier this afternoon (July 13) linking to a Twitmusic page where you could stream/download a cover (in studio version!) of a POP song
she just did. Now that's a first from her, right?

The Covered Song
Brandy shows her respect to British alternative
rock band Coldplay. She covered their song “Magic”, which is the lead single
from the Chris Martin-led band’s latest album “Ghost Stories”. “Magic” reached
#14 on the Hot 100. Listen to the original version below:

Absolutely loving the cover! Vocals are on
point, and Brandy’s R&B vibe totally work with original production. The
cover of “Magic” is not ‘live’, but in studio version, which I find totally
awesome! You could tell Brandy had been working on this for a while and it’s
not something she did overnight.
Brandy’s such a great R&B vocalist. Just re-listen to this cover real quick. Her vocals are perfection. It's super sad the industry and the general audience have turned their backs on her. Her latest album “Two Eleven” sold miserably, she got dropped from Epic Records in 2009, and last year she was removed from the RCA roster website meaning she got dropped from there too. Will she make a comeback then? Well, Brandy’s too young and too good to quit music. She said in early 2014 she had started working on a new album so I guess a new album is coming. Via a major label? I don't think so. She's probably going to take the independent route now.
