After releasing a viral video for her new single "American Girl", Bonnie Mckee has now premiered the official music video for her insanely catchy Dr. Luke-produced pure pop song. Watch Bonnie and girl friends make the most of a summery day above!
"American Girl" is such an 'instant', and radio-friendly song, and it feels and sounds like Bonnie's perfect 'debut single' (let's all forget about the unnoticed "Trouble" era). She's penned hits for the likes of Ke$ha, Britney or Katy Perry, and it's time for 29-year-old California-born Bonnie to shine on her own. I'm addicted to "American Girl", and I only wish it does well on the charts. For starters, Bonnie's new single hits iTunes tomorrow, July 23. The music video is a first step, now she needs Epic to book her live performance slots on a few relevant US shows.
About the official music video, well, I'm actually gonna stay with the 'viral video'. The new and official version adds not so much. It's just Bonnie and company making the most of a summery day, getting free stuff at a 7-eleven thanks to her 'looks', flirting with boys, taking a mall by storm, getting changed at a car wash, sunbathing by the pool, and getting pissed and crazy at a house party at night. Nothing ground-breaking here. It fits the song, but as I said, I prefer the viral clip where I can see Ke$ha and Katy cunningly lip-synching to, and actually making me 'get' into, the song more.
