30-Second Snippet Of Missy Elliott's New Single "WTF" Played On ESPN: Watch

The return of Missy Elliot is already a reality.

A couple of weeks ago, thanks to a tweet by Missy, we learned that her new single was titled “WTF” and that it was produced by Pharrell. And last night, October 26th, during Monday Night Football's halftime show on ESPN, a 30-second snippet of the song, whose rumored release date is November 13th, was played!

WTF (Where They From)” is the song for which Missy Elliott shot a music video for in late August in downtown Los Angeles and which TMZ posted footage of last month.

What do you think of the “WTF” snippet? Truth is that it sounds like a banger, and something that would slay urban music-themed clubs, but reality also is that it doesn’t sound groundbreaking and the same repetitive Pharrell sound is already annoying. Why couldn’t Missy have worked with a different producer, or with someone that could have offered her something ‘fresh’-sounding, and had to choose Pharrell, whom everybody already is tired of for saturating our minds with songs like “Blurred Lines” or “Happy”?

Wel’ll see how well “WTF” performs when it premieres in a couple of weeks. If a tragedy occurs, Missy could play the ‘buzz single’ card and save her dignity. Moreover, is this tragedy does occur, Missy would be forced to indeed work with new producers. With whom for example? To say something, Missy could ask Justin Bieber for the cellphone number of Skrillex. See what I mean? Missy needs something ‘new’, and not Pharrell.

Missy's 7th studio album will be released later this year. This will be Ms. Elliott's first studio album in 10 years. Her last, "The Cookbook", dropped in 2015.

Excited?
