2014 Teen Choice Awards - Performances [Video / Review]
Even though she was removed from the official single cover, Cher Lloyd did attend the 2014 Teen Choice Awards - held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 10th – to perform with Demi Lovato the pop hit "Really Don't Care". Other performers included: Rixton, Magic!, Becky G and Jason Derulo. Rita Ora was also scheduled to perform but she had to pull the plug last minute due to Calvin Harris' refusal for her to perform the song (“I Will Never Let You Down”) he wrote and produced. Rita and Calvin split earlier in 2014 allegedly due to Rita being unfaithful. On award-winning department, UK boyband One Direction were once again this year the biggest winners at the Teen Choice Awards. They won in the 10 categories they were nominated in. That 1D reign just won't let up, huh?
Performances review
Demi Lovato and Cher Lloyd – “Really Don’t Care”: An energetic performance it was, but what is happening to Demi’s voice? She isn’t sounding live as she used to anymore. Perhaps someone is in major need of a break?. As for Cher Lloyd, her rap verse in the bridge of “Really Don’t Care” is so irrelevant. I literally had to mute the YouTube video when she came up.
Magic! – “Rude”: One-hit wonders. No more comments.
Becky G – “Shower": My girl Becky G killed it last night at the 2014 TCAs with “Shower”. Becky G was a very last minute addition to the performers list. She was Rita Ora’s replacement. And it was for the best. No one in the U.S is into “I Will Never Let You Down” anyway.
Rixton – “Me & My Broken Heart” and “Wait on Me”: The UK pop-rock band is steadily consolidating in the U.S. On Sunday night at the Shrine Auditorium, Rixton performed a medley of their pop hit “Me & My Broken Heart” and their next single “Wait on Me”. It’s amazing how these two songs sound so like Maroon 5, but I ain’t hating!
Jason Derulo – “Wiggle” and “Talk Dirty”: Wasn’t this a kids' show? I don't necessarily agree Jason’s performance was appropriate. What are kids’ suppose to lean from the lyrics of “Wiggle” and “Talk Dirty”?. Not good things, I’m sure! Either way, Jason Derulo is a good performer and he certainly put on a show last night.
