You Have To See Joe Jonas’ Kinda Tragic Cover Of Selena Gomez’ “Hands To Myself” on BBC Radio 1 “Live Lounge”

DNCE, Republic Record's latest signed band led by Joe Jonas, are currently in the United Kingdom, most precisely in London, promoting their high-energy music.

I must tell you that "Cake by the Ocean", the lead single from their "Swaay" EP, is still strong on the Top 10 of this European country and therefore a promotion visit of this sort was bound to happen any day.

DNCE's first promotional stop of their UK media tour occurred today (April 21) at noon on BBC Radio 1's legendary "Live Lounge". There they performed a live acoustic two-song set. First they performed their hit song "Cake by the Ocean", with Joe Jonas serving the usual swagger, and later DNCE performed their "Live Lounge" mandatory cover. And what did they choose? A very bold selection! They covered Selena Gomez' "Hands to Myself". Say what!? Now, of course I am a fan of the song and Selena's hot music video for it, but my personal belief is that "Hands to Myself" is a song always meant to be performed by a girl, and what I know is that Joe Jonas is a guy. So unfortunately this performance didn't strike as "believeable" to me...but whatever. It was for fun in the end, right?

Analyzing the cover song performance a bit more in detail, I totally dug the funky production the band gave to the cover (it was everything), and Joe's vocals were okay during most of the performance (the beginning part was really nice), but it all got messy towards the finale. Joe began to try to hit all these high notes and he just failed. My notes those sounded awful. It was really painful to hear and watch. I know for sure he also knew he was messing it up. I guess we already know of a song we won't be covering again in the future, huh?
