[Video] Janelle Monáe Brings "Rio 2 - Soundtrack" To "American Idol"
20th Century Fox paid for a 3-minute slot on "American Idol" so Janelle Monáe could perform the lead single from the "Rio 2" soundtrack; "What Is Love", on last night's results show (March 27th). Watch Ms. Monaé get the 'fiesta' started below!
Certainly Janelle have better songs than the 'meh...' "What Is Love", but this was made for a scene in the animated, for-children "Rio 2", so it's all okay.
She did a great job on "Idol", sounding just like the record, and translating the 'feel-good' vibe of the song into the live performance. The band, the vast number of dancers and the confetti at the end, it all just worked. Great 'fiesta'!
