One Direction - "Midnight Memories" [Official Single Cover/Artwork + Review]
One Direction have revealed the official artwork for their new single, "Midnight Memories". Besides being the third single by the British boyband this era, it's also the title track from their November 2013-released third studio album.
The cover for "Midnight Memories" (song) maintains the same styling debuted on the "Story of My Life" artwork. "One Direction" and the song title appear in big letters in the lower part, with a few of the lyrics showing, while a random photo of the band grabs most of the space. Not the most flattering one, by the way...I mean, Niall, Harry and Louis look bad.
The weird single cover shouldn't compromise the performance of the song, though. Late last year was when we officially learned One Direction would release "Midnight Memories" as their next single. They performed it live on the X Factor USA Season 3 finale in early December. It was an explosive performance that "sold" the song pretty well.
They put the promotion of the new single on hold ever since...until this weekend, when they have revealed the official artwork for "Midnight Memories". One Direction should start promoting the song more on television in the upcoming weeks, with the official music video making its way onto VEVO very, very soon too!!
As for the song itself, it's another proof of the evolution of One Direction as artists. If "Best Song Ever" was their typical One Direction song, and "Story of My Life" saw them going the Mumford and Sons route, "Midnight Memories" brings out the lads' inner rockers. "Midnight Memories" is a One Direction-fied rock song, but rock nevertheless. It's got that commericial, radio-friendly appeal, a peppy pre-chorus, and an explosive chorus which, I'm confident, no one will resist singing along. One Direction have been slammed for the chorus though...some say it's too Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me"
