What was the big announcement? I’m sort of confused.

One Direction appeared this Tuesday morning (Aug. 4) on ABC’s “Good Morning America” to perform a 3-song live set at Central Park in New York City before a massive crowd and to offer a lengthy (almost 5 minutes long) sit-down interview. The British-Irish boyband weren’t scheduled at first to be part of this year’s GMA’s Summer Concert Series but a few days ago they were unexpectedly announced as performers. I guess the imminent release of new single “Drag Me Down” pretty much rushed everything and the fact the ‘lads’ would be already on US soil, on tour, made it perfect and possible to be on GMA. However, yesterday from the GMA Twitter account a “big announcement” from One Direction, to be revealed during their live appearance today, was hyped… but where was it? Was the fact they were going to perform the big announcement? Or was it when Liam said, about the new album, that it would be “eclectic” and “inspired by older artists”? lol. What a let down. GMA should’ve just said that One Direction would be performing “Drag Me Down” for the first time on television today and kill it there. The “big announcement” claim was a big farce. Are they really that needy of ratings?

So yes, “Drag Me Down” was debuted on TV this morning, the One Direction foursome sang it well, and the fan-studded crowd showed they are capable of learning a whole song by heart in just a few days. Bravo!

Other songs 1D rocked earlier today were; “Story of My Life” and “Steal My Girl”.

During the interview segment, Michael Strahan addressed the elephant in the room that was the rumored near-future paternity of member Louis Tomlinson with girlfriend Briana Lungwirth. Michael said: “from father to father, I want to congratulate you”. A kind of shocked-looking Louis, replied with a “thank you” and “it’s going to be an exciting time”. By the reaction on his face, it was evident he was not expecting this question about his personal life, but since he was on TV giving a direct answer was apparently the only polite way he found of tackling this uncomfortable situation. I can bet my entire existence that Louis yelled One Direction’s publicist for allowing this question to be asked on TV. Anyhow, there you go, out from his mouth. Louis is going to be a dad!
