New Song: Miley Cyrus - 'We Can't Stop' [Review]
"3 years of long wait...for this??", that's probably the most asked question right now among the Miley Cyrus fan community across the world. The former Disney star made a live in-studio appearance on Ryan Seacrest's KIISS FM show early on Monday (June 3) to world premiere her new single "We Can't Stop". The Mike WiLL Made It-produced track (Miley, and Mike Will?, uh-huh!), hit VEVO, and iTunes the same day. Listen above!
OK, this ain't your typical 'instant' single. Miley is taking serious risks with this song, and I'm surprised RCA (Miley's new label after departing Hollywood Records), would approve her going to this 'more urban than pop' genre. Miley's 'mature' record "Can't Be Tamed" underperformed on the charts, and sales, so I was actually expecting RCA and Miley to, at least at first, secure a 'smash' with a full-on pop album for their first 'music work' together.
"We Can't Stop" could be a grower. It's gonna require a bad-ass music video for me to change my mind, though. What's the song like?. It's got a pretty much 'chill' production (a little piano, a little hip-hop 'oomph', not Mike WiLL Made It's best work ever...), the verses are so much better than the chorus (not bueno!), a lot of embarrasing lyrics, ("To my homegirls here with the big butts"), and Miley doing the best she can to sing them without laughing at herself. The result?. "It's a mess", I first said, but I'm gonna give the song the benefit of the doubt. Let me analyze it, and process it better. She so needs an epic music video, and a killer live performance, though. Yet again, "3 years of long wait...for this??". For real, Miley?. *exhales* #Soladadadiweliketoparty
