The Adam Levine-led band premiered on radio (first play on iHeartRadio) early on Friday (May 15) their brand new single, produced by Shelllback, titled “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt”. It is a rock, pop, funk record that is confirmed to be ONE of the few new songs that M5 are going to include on the upcoming re-pack edition of the album “V”. “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt” is the lead single, and WHAT A LEAD SINGLE! Radio is going to eat this up like I do freakin’ Maltesers.
The song focuses on the summer time in which beautiful girls enjoy the high temperatures by going to resorts and the beach and flaunting their smokin’ hot bodies in tiny bikinis. Well, Adam Levine sings in the Maroon 5 new single “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt” about this I just mentioned. He says that “this summer’s gonna hurt like a mother-cker” in the chorus in the sense that he won’t be able to resist his impulses when he sees so much beauty and sexiness this summer at the places I was telling you before. What's he gonna do? Let’s just say he’ll definitely hit the bedroom a bit too many times this summer!
Vocally, Adam just slays “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt”. He owns the song, the falsettos are incredible, and he just really makes me believe that this summer everyone’s lives are going to change! Oh, and what about that chorus? It’s so big and potent that it is already stuck in my head! And that rock-funk production of Shellback is just the perfect match for this song. I like that it has a little bit of a vintage-y feel.
