New Music: Maroon 5 - "It Was Always You" [Premiere]
Maroon 5 jump on the ‘pre-order my album on iTunes now, and get a free song’ bandwagon. Do as Maroon 5 say, and you'll get an instant download of "It Was Always You", the third song on the tracklisting of the Adam Levine-led band's forthcoming fifth studio album, “V”. For those not in the knowing, “V” is the Roman numeral for "5". "It Was Always You" was written by the man Adam Levine himself and produced by The Monsters and The Strangerz.
Review of "It Was Always You"
Maroon 5 won’t be including pure pop and pop-rock only on “V”, there will also be room for electronic-rock on the album! Now this is definitely a new sound for Maroon 5. Doesn’t it sound a bit t.A.T.u, though? Yeah, it’s t.A.T.u. "It Was Always You" totally sounds somewhat alike to the Russian duo's "How Soon Is Now" song. Aside its electronic-rock production, the new Maroon 5 track - available now on iTunes - has good chorus, but that's it. OK "album track" here. The verses aren't making the cut for me. As for the theme of the song, it's about not fearing to ask your best friend out. Do it now or you will regret it. Apparently, Adam did regret it. "Only friends in my mind / But now I realize, it was always you”, sings the Maroon 5 leader in Verse 1.
