New Music: Maroon 5 - "Animals" [Premiere / Full Version]
That didn’t take long. The day after previewing it on the new KIA commercial, Maroon 5 have now premiered the full studio version of their next single “Animals” via a lyric video posted on VEVO this morning – August 22. The Benny Blanco and Shellback-produced pop number is the second official single from the band’s upcoming 5th album "V" (September 2 - Interscope). Although "Animals" - available on iTunes on August 25 – is the confirmed second single, Maroon 5 still plan to promote "Maps" for a while. So don’t expect "Animals" to impact on radios until late September/ early October.
“Animals” single review
I’m liking the strident pop production of “Animals” (I see you Benny and Shellback), the radio-friendliness of the song, and I can tolerate the steamy lyrics in the verses, but I don’t like the message that is reached in the chorus. "Baby I’m preying on you tonight / Hunt you down, eat you alive just like animals / Baby you think you that can hide”, sings Adam Levine. Isn't it a bit too sexist/too strong? With the current percentage of women being raped annually in the USA, I don't think we need songs like Maroon 5's "Animals" playing over and over again on Mainstream radio. That’s just my opinion.
