New Music: Green Day - 'Oh Love'

American punk/rock band Green Day have recently premiered the studio edit of "Oh Love", the track that will serve as the lead single from their upcoming album "Uno!", the first of a trilogy of albums that will get released over the course of 5 months starting in September 25th 2012 via Reprise Records.

The song "Oh Love" was recorded in 2011, and debuted with a live performance during a Green Day gig at club Red7 in Austin, Texas last November. Watch a video of the performance below...although it's just a still image with the live audio. Weird. The quality is a bit dodgy so that's why I didn't get into it that much back then, but now that we have the final thing it seems appropriate to bring this video back,

Green Day debuted a lyric video for "Oh Love" on YouTube on Monday (July 16), plus the song's also available for individual digital purchase on iTunes. My review: The new Green Day single is good. The MELODY is the key here. I like it. Is it a hit, though? Well, I just can't see this topping the Billboard Hot 100. Despite my excitement about Green Day's return and the fact that I will buy all their triology of albums for sure, and I think they're super talented and deserve only success, "Oh Love" isn't just 'instant', and it's not the uptempo (a little more faster pace please!), rock anthem I was waiting to jam out this summer. In any case, I'm sure "Uno!" will carry many surprises and surely #1-sounding songs.

What do you think of "Oh Love"?
