New Music: Ellie Goulding - 'Hanging On'
Oh, wow, this is...what word can best described this song? Oh, yeah...heavenly!! English singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding - who is enjoying massive US success presently with her single "Lights" (...who would've thought after all this time! Power to her!) - has just released online this new track titled "Hanging On" featuring rapper Tinie Tempah. Check out the song - which can be downloaded for free - above!
Is "Hanging On" the first single from Ellie's second album?. We still don't know the answer to that. But I personally think it's just a buzz single. Ellie presented the new song to fans with a message on Twitter that read; "Here's the beginning of my new journey. Enjoy and share responsibly". So it seems like it's more of an introduction of the new sound Ellie is preparing for her new album. I get that from her words. But then again, she is CONFIRMED to have worked with Calvin Harris on a new song, so the indie/electronica effort "Hanging On" is doesn't quite fit to me with the more-than-obvious uptempo/club anthem Calvin has for sure crafted for Ellie. But time will tell, maybe Ellie's new LP will be super eclectic!
Back to "Hanging On", this is actually a cover of the Active Child track of the same name. The US electronic music act released the original in 2011, although passed unnoticed. Ellie got the track somehow and gave it her own spin. It's so HEAVENLY. The sublime production, Ellie's vulnerable vocals, the lyrics...too awesome! But for once, although I like the dude and his music, Tinie Tempah is SO out of place. He totally ruins the cool feel of the song. In any case, I'm soooo ready for Ellie's new album! Bring it!
