New Music: Charli XCX - "Simply Irresistible"
Do the "rock and roll" sign for Charli XCX! The English singer-songwriter (who penned "I Love It" for Icona Pop) takes an unexpected route. She leaves the catchy, electro-pop sound of her new single "SuperLove" behind to embrace rock n' roll on "Simply Irresistable". Fans of "SuperLove" don't need to worry, though, as this is a temporary change. Charlie XCX has simply covered Robert Palmer's famous '80s song.
This cover was requested by E!. Why? The American network has paid Charlie XCX (and Swedish rock band The Royal Concept) to cover Robert Palmer's hit song to use as the theme song of the 2014 season of "Live From the Red Carpet". So basically when you turn on your TV and tune E! to watch next year's red carpet events of the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards or The Oscars, you'll hear Charlie XCX rocking out "Simply Irresistable". Not bad promo for her, huh?.
