Maluma Teases Lyrics Of First English Song Ever: The Crossover Is Coming!

maluma english song

We’ve known for a while now that Colombian reggaeton star and hot boy Maluma (the one featured on Shakira’s smash hit “Chantaje”) has been preparing his English-music crossover. We’ve seen photos of him in the recording studio with American producers, he’s said it himself that he’s planning to include both Spanish and English songs on his next album in an interview earlier this year, and just recently he signed a deal with Sony/ATV (one of the most important publishing companies in the world and one of the companies you must have a deal with if you plan to take over the whole world with your music) to take his publishing game to the next level. But where is the proof? We’ve heard Maluma talk that talk, but where is the proof? Where is a snippet of an English-language song from Maluma? Or where’s any other solid evidence? Could he have just been bluffing? Could he have just been lying about having recorded English music to just get the feedback from his fans if this would be something that they’d be interested in hearing? Well, just chill. Maluma wasn’t lying. He’s indeed recording songs fully in English and we have finally the undeniable proof (ZOOM!).

maluma snapchat

During a studio recording session yesterday (July 19) in Los Angeles, Maluma posted a photo on Snapchat whose main purpose was to really laugh with his fans about his terrible drawing skills, but in reality, perhaps without Maluma wanting to reveal it just yet, a whole different thing was the true importance of this recording booth photo. For it showed an excerpt of the lyrics of an actual English song he was recording at the time. Did he intentionally want to reveal this? Was it just accident? What do you think? But anyway, we may not have the official title of the song just yet (we could have had it if Maluma hadn’t covered a big chunk of the lyrics sheet with his big hand) but we have some of the lyrics.

She’s a lightweight
And this Henney too strong
We don’t know what the fucks going on
Party after party girl
We party every weekend
Back in bed
No time for breaks
No time for us to sleep in

This will no doubt be another very sexy song from Maluma, just that this time it will be sung in English.

So he’s definitely recording English music, working on his next album too, and it all points out that maybe in the last quarter of 2017 we will witness the launch of Maluma’s English-music crossover journey. Can’t wait. If he succeeds on transferring his sexy swag, and essence to his English music, then there’s no doubt that Maluma will be become a force to be reckoned with in the English world. He’ll have hit after hit and maybe he’ll become the one who dethrones Despacito’s legend. Because Maluma has already smashed every single streaming record in the Spanish world. So the potential is definitely there.
