Listen: The Saturdays’s Mollie King Goes Solo With Debut Single “Back To You”

mollie king back to you

UK girl group The Saturdays are currently on hiatus therefore the time is ideal now for its members to exploit a possible solo career. And this is the case of Mollie King, who was probably the most beautiful one in the group and who once was rumored to be dating Prince Harry. Hello! Girl ain’t dumb!

Mollie King recently signed a deal to develop her solo career with Island Records in the UK and today, August 19th, the blonde singer released her debut solo single titled “Back To You”. “Back To You” is a synth-pop ballad where Mollie tells us all about her great difficulty to forget an old relationship that only gave her problems and where she never felt fully loved and cared for. Nevertheless, Mollie foolishly still have feelings for that man and every time he booty-calls her and he puts his “body on me”, Mollie makes that “mistake” again. You know what I mean, right? This vicious cycle is what Mollie King’s new single is about, and is is something she hopes to overcome soon. “What do I keep coming back to you?”, sings Mollie over and over again in the chorus.

Ms. King has never been known to be the greatest singer of The Saturdays, that’s a given, but what I hear in “Back To You” sounds decent. Mollie King has known how to adapt her vocal range in this song and what she serves is decent. All in all, I like “Back To You”, it actually sounds like something The Saturdays could have recorded (and I seriously live for The Sats's discography), but I don’t think this is going to be a mega huge hit in the UK (might be wrong but this is what I think). Yet this does make me have an appetite to hear more from solo Mollie King. I’ll definitely keep a watch on her.

Hit or Miss?

UPDATE: Mollie dropped the music video for "Back To You" today too! It serves Coldplay "The Scientist" music video realness!
