Queen of covers Kelly Clarkson performed two more at her latest “Piece by Piece World Tour “ concerts this past weekend. She did Lana del Rey’s “Off to the Races” in Las Vegas on Saturday (Aug. 15) and The Fugees’ “Killing Me Softly” last night (Aug. 16) in San Diego.
Who’s the fan that requested the Lana del Rey song and where can I find him/her to say thank you? KC covering LDR? What a moment! Watching Kelly slay one of my favorite songs from Lana’s debut album “Born to Die” like this makes me go back praying to hopefully one day Kelly and Lana’s paths cross and Lana can write a song for Kelly. Lana can provide the amazing lyrics and Kelly the extraordinary vocals.
Kelegend’s cover of “Killing Me Softly” was real pretty too. I have watched many artists perform covers of this Fugees classic and Kelly’s version is instantly one of my favorites. She just blends so well with the song she’s covering that you honestly forget for a second that it’s a cover and not her own song. Can somebody please tweet this performance to Lauryn Hill? I want to know what she has to say!
