Thank God Kelly Clarkson exists. Otherwise we would be missing performances like this. On Saturday night (Oct. 25), the queen of music performed a concert at Shea's Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, New York as part of a campaign of Microsoft to promote their last-year-opened official "store" at the city’s shopping mall of Walden Galleria. Why promote the opening of this store so late you ask? Because Kelly was scheduled to perform this concert LAST YEAR'S NOVEMBER but she became ill and a close re-scheduled date couldn't be found. So it wasn’t until Kelly had her baby and recuperated that she could play this super-delayed Microsoft-sponsored show in Buffalo.

At the lengthy show, the mother of River Rose Blackstock performed a cover of Taylor Swift’s pop hit “Shake It Off”. But Kelly refused to perform the original pop version of the song. Instead, the original “American Idol” gave the song a gospel spin. Uh-huh, Kelly took us to CHURCH. "Going to bring a little Jesus into tonight's ceremony", said Kelly to the audience before revealing yet what her cover was going to be. This generation's Aretha Franklin then proceeded to sing a few lines of “Shake It Off” in a very SOULFUL way and not too long after the crowd knew what song it was. Cheers could be heard! Okay, after that gospel-ish intro Kelly did switch to the pop version of "Shake It Off" but she added a few soulful-y notes from time to time.

This was performance was simply SICK. Those effortless vocals just slayed my soul. Taylor Swift can only DREAM of performing "Shake It Off" LIVE as strongly as Kelly Clarkson does it. Acknowledging Kelly’s superiority in everything, Taylor paid respect to Kelly's cover version on Twitter. See what she wrote below!!!

PS: Kelly, gurl, when is your new album coming out? I know you got to get back in shape before staring a new "era" but I hope you're in fact recording new music for us!

Thoughts?
