Jay-Z - 'Picasso Baby' (Music Video)
Jay-Z took a unique approach to the initial release of his 12th studio album 'Magna Carta Holy Grail' and the same can be said for the first visual off it, 'Picasso Baby'. The visual was shot in early July in front of spectators at the Pace Gallery in New York City. HOV singled out attendees to interact with them closer and provide a intimate performance.
Director Mark Romanek took the concept of performing to one person a time from famous performance artist Marina Abramovic. Romanek told Huffington Post: "I also wanted to make sure we had Marina’s blessing. So she attended the event and took part in the event. She couldn’t have been more happy or enthusiastic about us using her concept and pushing it forward.” Other names you might recognize in the video include Wale, Rosie Perez, Judd Apatow, Alan Cumming, and Fab 5 Freddy.
Just 4 weeks in 'Magna Carta Holy Grail' has already sold 735,000 units and that's not including the first million Jay sold to Samsung. In an interview with Power 106, Jay mentioned he was shooting the 'Holy Grail' video in Los Angeles.
