Hozier made a live appearance on BBC Radio 1's "Live Lounge" today (Sept. 1) to perform a two-song acoustic set.

The Irish singer is currently promoting his latest UK single "From Eden" - off his last year-released eponymous debut album - on the Queen's land and this was one of the songs Hozier beautifully sang at midday today (London time). The second song he did was his mandatory cover, which every artist invited to do a "Live Lounge" session has to do. What did Hozier choose to cover? Sam Smith's "Lay Me Down", taken from the English singer-songwriter's "In the Lonely Hour" LP.

Hozier "Jackson 5'd" Sam's song (as he described it) in the sense he added some festive soul vibes to it and sped up the slow ballad tempo of the original. If you don't get this, it's okay, just listen below to Hozier's rendition of "Lay Me Down" and no description will be necessary no more. The performance will speak for itself.

Hozier was AMAZING! I got goosebumps and all. Best cover of Sam Smith's "Lay Me Down" I've heard so far. I never imagined someone could give such a brilliant "twist" to this ballad.
