Fall Out Boy Delay "MANIA" Album Release To January 2018, But Tour's Still A Go!
Fall Out Boy announced via social media last night that their seventh studio album “MANIA” has been pushed back to January 19th, 2018 from its original release date of September 15th, 2017.
Band frontman Patrick Stump wrote a long message on social media to explain fans the decision:
“Hi everybody, so i wrote a long note trying to explain why we're pushing our record back and then in my patrick fashion, i accidentally deleted it so here's my second attempt oh! Wait, yes we are pushing the record release date back to january 19. i didn't mention that. yeah pretty big bummer. we had some long talks and a lot to weigh about it all and collectively thought that was best. i love the way kanye just goes “screw it i'm gonna rewrite the whole record you already downloaded because l'm an artist and i can do crazy shit like that”. this isn't that though. the album just really isn't ready and it felt very rushed. i'm never going to put a record out genuinely don't believe is at least as strong or valid as the one that came before it and in order to do that we need a little bit more time to properly and carefully record solid performances. i know we're supposed to come up with some really exciting story to spin in pull quotes about how the studio exploded and i ran in to save pete's bass or something or like aliens stole the master tapes that would be fun for sure. but the truth is we just want the record to be better than we can make it in the next couple weeks and it will require a little more time. thanks for understanding and really sorry to keep everybody waiting. we can’t wait to see you on the mania tour soon! Uk/europe we haven't forgotten about you either! “

So disappointing. But if the album is going more be more amazing and more perfect if we wait until January next year, then so be it. But I wonder… didn’t Fall Out Boy release the lead single “Young and Menace” back in April? They have had 3 months (and there’s still one month to go until the original release date of “MANIA”) to “re-record” the album. Wasn’t that enough time? I’m just wondering!
Fall Out Boy do promise to go ahead with their headlining arena tour this fall and summer. It kicks off in late October in Cleveland, Ohio. I wonder what songs will they play at the tour, though? Songs from the “rushed” album?
